During the recent Printing United Expo 2025, DuPont made waves with a major announcement — the upcoming launch of its new Jettable Adhesive, designed to eliminate the need for DTF powder.
While DuPont’s reveal drew plenty of attention, the concept isn’t entirely new. Over the past six months, Nouvelles de l'imagerie mondiale has covered similar innovations from other manufacturers who are also developing powder-free DTF printing solutions. The first was BestJet Ink from Taiwan exhibited at FESPA 2025, and at this year’s show, Hongsam (China) and Matsui Ink (Japan) were also demonstrating their own approaches to this evolving technology.
Two Emerging Methodologies
As powder-free DTF gains traction, two main methodologies are emerging for applying the liquid or jettable adhesives.
Most manufacturers — including DuPont, Matsui, and JetBest— are using a dedicated print head channel specifically for the adhesive. However, Nur Ink is taking a different approach by integrating the adhesive into the white ink channel.
The advantage of Nur’s method is clear: because the adhesive is part of the white ink formulation, any existing DTF printer can use it immediately, without the need for additional printhead channels. Printers with only four-color setups, for example, could adopt the technology without hardware modifications.
