FRANKLIN | Tennessee – September 2026 – Vanguard Digital Printing Systems, a Durst Group Company, continues its commitment to offering innovative products with the unveiling of its brand-new flatbed printer, Cumberland, at the 2026 PRINTING United Expo. Designed to help print providers increase capacity across signage, displays, packaging, and industrial applications, Cumberland combines advanced automation, streamlined media handling, and high-speed output.

High-Speed Output and HyperVQ Printhead Array
At the core of Cumberland is the HyperVQ Printhead Array, engineered specifically for this platform with up to three rows of Kyocera printheads. The system achieves print speeds of up to 6,588 ft²/hr (164 boards per hour). Precise dot placement at high print speeds is maintained through magnetic linear drive control on both the X and Y axes, paired with variable-drop technology operating at 4 picoliter drop sizes for smooth color gradients.
Production Automation and Hardware Features
Cumberland incorporates several specialized operational features aimed at reducing job setup times:
Control Software & Multi-Board Mode: A redesigned user interface supports intuitive operation and high-efficiency printing across multiple boards simultaneously.
Vacuum System: A digitally controlled, nine-zone vacuum system ensures firm hold-down and rapid transitions between different media types.
Ink Configuration: Utilizes CMYK with optional White and Varnish ink channels to extend application range.
Workflow & Automation Integration: Can be paired with Durst’s Produce Automate — Vanguard Edition RIP solution, as well as the optional Harpeth Automation System.
Upgradeable Platform Architecture
In line with the rest of Vanguard’s equipment portfolio, Cumberland features an upgradeable field design, allowing print service providers to scale capabilities and add printhead capacity as production demands increase.
