Epson&#8217;s acquisition of Fiery\u2014which included CADlink\u2014followed by its purchase of Inedit from EFI, gave the inkjet giant control over multiple layers of the digital front-end stack. Ricoh absorbed ColorGate, Dover Corporation took over Caldera, and Kornit Digital acquired PrintFactory. What were once nimble independent developers have become proprietary extensions of hardware giants.<\/p>\n<p>OEMs have further tightened their grip with proprietary in-house RIPs\u2014Mimaki&#8217;s RasterLink, Roland&#8217;s VersaWorks, and Mutoh&#8217;s VerteLith\u2014each optimized for their own hardware but offering little flexibility for mixed-fleet shops. For print service providers demanding OEM-neutral control, the following ten independent RIP providers remain the most compelling alternatives.
