While some reports paint a picture of a company on the brink, the reality is far different. At WIN, we\u2019re showing why Kodak is not only surviving but positioning itself for a stronger future.<\/p>\n<h5 class=\"ai-optimize-8\" data-start=\"425\" data-end=\"440\">The Spark<\/h5>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-9\" data-start=\"441\" data-end=\"748\">Earlier this week, Kodak filed its quarterly report with the SEC, including a standard \u201cgoing concern\u201d disclosure. While accounting rules require such language when financial pressures exist, the filing triggered speculation that Kodak might soon go out of business. Shares plunged 26% on Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n<h5 class=\"ai-optimize-10\" data-start=\"750\" data-end=\"784\">Kodak\u2019s Message: Not So Fast<\/h5>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-11\" data-start=\"785\" data-end=\"951\">Kodak was quick to respond, calling the media coverage \u201cmisleading\u201d and emphasizing that it has no plans to shut down, cease operations, or file for bankruptcy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-12\" data-start=\"953\" data-end=\"1088\">Instead, the company insists it is on track to have its strongest balance sheet in years by early 2026 \u2014 virtually net debt free.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-12\" data-start=\"953\" data-end=\"1088\">\u201cWhen the transactions we have planned are completed, Kodak will have a stronger balance sheet than we have had in years,\u201d the company said.<\/p>\n<h5 class=\"ai-optimize-13\" data-start=\"1238\" data-end=\"1269\">Debt and Pension Strategy<\/h5>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-14\" data-start=\"1270\" data-end=\"1298\">Here\u2019s the plan in motion:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1299\" data-end=\"1708\">\n<li class=\"ai-optimize-15\" data-start=\"1299\" data-end=\"1397\">\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-16\" data-start=\"1301\" data-end=\"1397\">Kodak currently carries <strong data-start=\"1325\" data-end=\"1354\">$477 million in term debt<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1359\" data-end=\"1395\">$100 million in preferred stock.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ai-optimize-17\" data-start=\"1398\" data-end=\"1708\">\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-18\" data-start=\"1400\" data-end=\"1557\">In <strong data-start=\"1403\" data-end=\"1420\">December 2025<\/strong>, the company expects to receive <strong data-start=\"1453\" data-end=\"1469\">$500 million<\/strong> from its pension plan termination (after fulfilling all obligations to participants).<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1561\" data-end=\"1708\">\n<li class=\"ai-optimize-19\" data-start=\"1561\" data-end=\"1634\">\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-20\" data-start=\"1563\" data-end=\"1634\"><strong data-start=\"1563\" data-end=\"1587\">$300 million in cash<\/strong> will immediately go toward paying down debt.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ai-optimize-21\" data-start=\"1638\" data-end=\"1708\">\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-22\" data-start=\"1640\" data-end=\"1708\"><strong data-start=\"1640\" data-end=\"1677\">$200 million in investment assets<\/strong> will be converted into cash.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-23\" data-start=\"1710\" data-end=\"1911\">That leaves Kodak with only <strong data-start=\"1738\" data-end=\"1803\">$177 million in term debt and $100 million in preferred stock<\/strong> to manage \u2014 obligations the company says it will repay, extend, or refinance well before their due dates.<\/p>\n<h5 class=\"ai-optimize-24\" data-start=\"1913\" data-end=\"1957\">Operations: Stable and Self-Sustaining<\/h5>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-25\" data-start=\"1958\" data-end=\"2018\">Kodak also highlighted its improving cash flow discipline:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2019\" data-end=\"2231\">\n<li class=\"ai-optimize-26\" data-start=\"2019\" data-end=\"2136\">\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-27\" data-start=\"2021\" data-end=\"2136\">In Q2 2025, it used only $3 million in cash, largely for growth initiatives \u2014 a huge improvement from Q1.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ai-optimize-28\" data-start=\"2137\" data-end=\"2231\">\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-29\" data-start=\"2139\" data-end=\"2231\">The company stressed it does not need pension transaction proceeds to fund operations.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-30\" data-start=\"2233\" data-end=\"2383\">CEO Jim Continenza underscored that Kodak continues to make steady progress against its long-term strategy, even in a volatile business environment.<\/p>\n<h5 class=\"ai-optimize-31\" data-start=\"2385\" data-end=\"2405\">Why the Panic?<\/h5>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-32\" data-start=\"2406\" data-end=\"2620\">The \u201cgoing concern\u201d disclosure that rattled markets is a technical accounting requirement, not a bankruptcy announcement. Kodak stressed that its business is stable and its recovery plan is already in motion.<\/p>\n<h5 class=\"ai-optimize-33\" data-start=\"2622\" data-end=\"2646\">The Bigger Picture<\/h5>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-34\" data-start=\"2647\" data-end=\"2891\">Kodak has weathered crises before \u2014 including its 2012 bankruptcy when digital photography disrupted its core business. Today, however, the company is reinventing itself around commercial printing, advanced materials, and specialty chemicals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-35\" data-start=\"2893\" data-end=\"3070\">With a massive debt reduction coming, cash reserves in hand, and a leaner cost base, Kodak argues it\u2019s not just surviving \u2014 it\u2019s laying the foundation for long-term stability.<\/p>\n<h5 class=\"ai-optimize-36\" data-start=\"3072\" data-end=\"3093\">The Bottom Line<\/h5>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-37\" data-start=\"3094\" data-end=\"3309\">Don\u2019t count Kodak out.
