Virtually every vendor we spoke with indicated they had\u00a0<b>closed or were expecting to close major orders<\/b>. A notable contradiction emerged as customers accelerated purchases to precede anticipated tariff implementation and price increases\u2014behavior paralleling recent trends in the automotive sector where consumers rushed to beat tariff-related adjustments.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Every vendor<\/strong>\u00a0at the expo is feeling the effects of the tariff situation, with impacts varying widely from positive to negative depending on their position in the market. Despite these varied outcomes, industry participants share a common concern &#8211; the\u00a0<b>persistent lack of stability and predictability<\/b>\u00a0in the tariff environment, which continues to\u00a0<strong>hamper effective<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>business planning<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The uncertainty surrounding future tariff policies remains the\u00a0<strong>primary challenge<\/strong>\u00a0for companies as they attempt to develop strategic roadmaps and investment plans for the coming year.<\/p>\n<h5><b>2025 Vendor Plans: Supply Chain Adjustments\u00a0<\/b><\/h5>\n<p>During the Expo, we engaged with numerous executives representing leading manufacturers and suppliers. A clear trend emerged from these discussions: companies across the board have launched\u00a0<b>comprehensive supply chain reviews<\/b>\u00a0to determine necessary adjustments in response to the evolving tariff situation.<\/p>\n<p>A particularly notable development came from\u00a0<b>Epson<\/b>, which initially announced a substantial\u00a0<b>24% price increase<\/b>\u00a0to its dealer network. However, within days, the company contacted dealers to inform them of a temporary pause on this price hike. Epson cited the need to thoroughly assess both the immediate and long-term implications of the Trump administration&#8217;s tariff policies before proceeding with such significant pricing changes.<\/p>\n<p><b>Mimaki\u00a0<\/b>will institute a\u00a0<b>10% price increase<\/b>\u00a0on\u00a0<b>June 1, 2025<\/b>\u00a0and then will reassess its plans in 90 days.\u00a0<b>Roland<\/b>\u00a0will\u00a0<b>maintain<\/b>\u00a0its printer pricing since they started accumulating inventory on a pre-tariff strategic basis. According to\u00a0<b>Andrew Oransky<\/b>, Board Member of Roland DG and CEO, Roland DGA, \u201cRoland will also be launching a variety of sales and marketing initiatives to assist end users with their product purchases.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b>Brian Phipps<\/b>, President of Mutoh, stated that the company\u00a0<b>will maintain<\/b>\u00a0current pricing for all their products, as virtually all is manufactured in Japan.<\/p>\n<p>In contrast to most companies&#8217; responses,\u00a0<b>Prism Inks<\/b>\u00a0has completely restructured its supply chain to source\u00a0<b>all raw materials<\/b>\u00a0for its DTF inks domestically within the United States. According to CEO and President\u00a0<b>Amir Ajanee<\/b>, &#8220;We have\u00a0<b>reduced the price<\/b>\u00a0of our DTF ink by\u00a0<b>13%<\/b>\u00a0to help end users with the tariff issue.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><b>Sonny Chang<\/b>, VP of Buffalo Imaging, one of the\u00a0<b>largest importers of Korean<\/b>\u00a0media in the U.S., provided an insightful perspective on the situation. Late last week, South Korea dispatched a delegation of 80 government and business representatives to Washington to expedite negotiations for a resolution. According to Chang, \u201cthere is widespread optimism that an agreement will be reached quickly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile,\u00a0<b>EFI<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0<b>HP<\/b>\u00a0are preparing to shift production across their international factories depending on how tariff negotiations unfold.
